Age-Related Macular Degeneration

AMD is a chronic eye disease that affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp central vision.  It is the leading cause of vision loss in older adults.

Symptoms
 

Blurred or distorted central vision, difficulty reading or recognising faces, and dark or empty areas in the central vision.

Treatment
 

Treatment options include intraocular injections and nutritional supplements to slow the progression and manage the symptoms.
