Infections & Uveitis

Eye infections, such as conjunctivitis or pink eye, can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergies, irritants, or underlying health conditions.
Symptoms
These include redness, itching, watery discharge, swelling, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and a foreign body sensation.
Treatment
This depends on the cause, with bacterial infections typically requiring antibiotic eye drops or ointments, viral infections managed with supportive care, and allergic or irritant conjunctivitis treated with antihistamines, lubricating eye drops, or flushing the eye with clean water.
Uveitis refers to inflammation of the uvea, the middle layer of the eye, consisting of the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. It can occur due to autoimmune disorders, infections, or eye trauma.
Symptoms
These include eye redness, pain, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and floaters. Uveitis requires prompt medical attention as it can lead to complications and vision loss if left untreated.
Treatment
It often involves corticosteroid eye drops or injections to reduce inflammation, and underlying causes may be addressed with appropriate medications or treatments. Close monitoring is essential for managing uveitis effectively.
